Governors Cup Golf Tournament

2019 will be the 13 year anniversary of the Governor’s Cup. This tournament is growing each year and early indications are that the 2019 event will be nearly full. It is held in November each year which is traditionally one of Norfolk’s best times of the year for good weather. It is has a different structure to  other local golf tournaments with the format being a pairs event held over three days. While the main focus of the week is fun and enjoyment, there will still be strong competition with amazing $10,000 worth of prizes on offer. Day one (Tuesday) is a 4 Ball Best Ball Stableford, Day two (Wednesday) is a 2 Person Ambrose and Day three (Thursday) is a 4 Ball Aggregate Stableford. Teams are awarded points based on where they finish amongst the field on each days play (e.g. if there are 50 teams of 2 players then the team that wins will collect 25 points, the team that comes second will collect 24 points……the team that comes 24th will win 2 points and the rest will collect 1 point).

This unique point structure, along with the three different games, gives teams of all different handicap levels a realistic chance of winning. It has also traditionally been very close on the last day, which leads to some exciting golf. The week starts with a Welcome Dinner. There is a cocktail welcome hour and delicious full buffet dinner on the night included in the tournament entry fee. The golf is then held over the next three days with daily presentations being held in the clubhouse on both Tuesday and Wednesday. Following the golf on Thursday, there will be a daily and overall gala presentation dinner. A three course alternate drop menu is included in the tournament entry and a great is night guaranteed for all. The Governor’s Cup is a terrific golf tournament and a great excuse to come and visit Norfolk Island. Please contact us for more details about accommodation specials.
